The Lord’s Courts
Psalm 84:9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
• Our God is our shield. He is our protector and desires to take us into the safety under His wings. God desires to protect you. He is always there and ready to come to your aid. We may push Him away with sin and doubt, but He never leaves us, nor forsakes us.
• Every time we pray we can directly come before the face of Christ, the Father’s anointed Son – our savior, lord and king. Christ’s death upon the cross forever rent the temple’s curtain and we now have direct access into the holy of holies.
• We, through the blood of Christ, can enter the holiest inner sanctum. Nothing stands between us and the presence of God except our own sin, which Christ will cast as far as the east is from the west when we repent. Repent and turn from your sin.
Psalm 84:10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
• How precious is the presence of God. You can feel His love, which is shed abroad in your heart. He has saved you and prepared you for His blessings.
• As the psalmist said, one day in the presence of our king is greater than a thousand without Christ.
• We are heirs of our Heavenly Father, far greater than the doormen, so we have much more to look forward to. Even so, it is better to serve God in a menial way than to dwell among sinners as equals.
Psalm 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
• As the sun provides light, warmth, and nourishment to this world, our Heavenly Father provides us with spiritual nourishment. Feast on the manna of His word.
• As the Israelites traversed the wilderness without their clothing and shoes wearing out, and with manna to fill their bellies, God has an eternal plan to meet all our needs, except we won’t be wandering the wilderness we shall live as heirs in His great and glorious kingdom.
• Our God is our protector, or shield. He stands between us and our enemies. He shall see us through – our protection and shield.
• Grace and Glory! The Lord is our grace and glory. We are saved by His grace. We shine with His glory in us.
• Everything which is good will be given to our Father’s heirs. We are sons and daughters of the king. With our eyes on the prize of salvation, walking in the ways of God, we can rejoice in all things.
Psalm 84:12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
• Do you trust the Lord? If so then you are blessed. With trust comes peace. Peace brings a state of mind where we can focus on Christ and His work rather than your troubles.
• Trust and believe so you can live in the blessings of freedom with God.
