Holy and Acceptable Sacrifice

Your Reasonable Service

Jesus died for our sins that we might be saved, but He did not save us just to sit on a log.  He desires that we work for Him, because we love Him.  We cannot earn our salvation.  God does not want us to try to earn our salvation, because that is impossible.  Our salvation is His Glory and our greatest blessing.  God expects us to serve Him.  If we love Him we will do His work.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

  • Because of the mercies of God we can serve God.
  • Presenting ourselves as a Holy Sacrifice is to give ourselves to God.  How can we give ourselves to God unless we give our time, talents and treasures?
  • Giving our time is to serve God with our time.
  • Giving out talents is to use our skills and abilities for God’s work.
  • Giving of our treasures is giving to God our financial and physical gain.

These are what Jesus wants from us our time, talents and treasure.  Is there anything else you can sacrifice?  Our bodies are these things laid out for Christ.  They are not to be sacrificed alone so that no one can be blessed, but they are to be used for others to be blessed and for God to receive the glory.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

  • A living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God is our service without sin, without grumbling, without the impurities that are our flesh.
  • It is this that is our reasonable sacrifice.  In other words God is not asking too much from us.  He is not asking more than we should have to give Him.
  • He has given us our time, talents, and treasures why should we not serve Him with them.  We are stewards of what is really His.

Enjoy serving God.  Some days it may feel hard and you may be tired and you may be burned out, but always serve Him.  For those who give themselves as holy and acceptable sacrifices unto God, our Lord will multiple that sacrifice.  Perfect your Holiness and you will find that His promises are true.
